'On the road' is a design collective run by Set Designer Brigit Hegarty. She has worked in the advertising industry for over 10 years and works from her design studio at Trinity Buoy Wharf in East London.
Experience of running her own Product and Set design companies initiated the core idea. A platform for young design talent to help with bridging the transition between university and launching a successful business. The focus for the collective is the photographic campaign, creating interest and attention for each participating designer.
Brigit is best known for her graphic, clean sharp styling with an eye for detail. Some of her styling and set design work includes Apple, Adidas, Kurt Geiger, Levis and Nokia alongside contributions to Vogue, Wallpaper and Elle Decoration.
Working creatively with renowned still life Photographer Luke Kirwan of Blunt Agency, the images accentuate the designers' innovations and are little less than show stopping. Luke's undisputed talent and perfectionism has seen him champion numerous campaigns including Honda, HSBC, Sony, Ferrari and Krug. Brigit and Luke have a dynamic and hugely successful portfolio of previous collaborations.
Where did the idea come from?
Setting up any business is a challenge, and it can be hard to get the ball rolling. When Brigit was a product design graduate she was lucky to receive press interest and had her designs published which led to various exhibitions including showing work at the ICA in London and Modern Art Oxford, she continued to manufacture and sell her ring designs through national retailer Octopus.

‘If I am able to assist in helping young designers to get interest and encourage them to achieve their goals it leads not only to a feeling of satisfaction but also helps the creative industries to expand. Living in East London is amazingly inspiring, but the realities of how difficult it can sometimes be to succeed in business, especially in the current economic climate, are more and more apparent'.
Why do it?
My aim is to create a platform for new designers along with the aid of sponsorship, and help them with the business process, which is much easier to do as a collective than on your own. By having a design involved in a campaign the likelihood of getting interest and commissions is greater. Using the knowledge and experience that I have gained over many years of working in the advertising industry and seeing the graduates progress will be a great reward, everyone has to start somewhere.
